Everyone makes mistakes. if you make a mistake in an interview or get tongue-tied, it won't have a bad impression. Sure you may not get the job, but the interviewer won't think badly of you. S/He'll realize that you're just human and were stressed out / nervous.
However, lying intentionally is the worst thing you can do in an interview. Never do it. Be truthful, even if it will cost you the job. If you can get around the question without answering it, then do so. But don't give a false answer.
