Which is the best programming language to start with for beginners?

It depends in which field you want to build your carrier.

1. Web Development : Start with HTML and CSS.
2. Software Development : Start with C and C++ to clear basic fundamentals, logic and OOPS Concepts.
3. Embedded Programming: Start with C and VC++.
4. SAP and ERP (high security systems): start with core Java. 

Any website developer should begin with HTML. After that may be Php.

I recommend JAVA. When you felt your are good in JAVA, you will see the other programming languages are similar and easy to learn.

For me, it depends on the country, universities and curriculum or scope of your course. In the Philippines, when i was in college, based on the course i'm taking and what's on my curriculum were basic in HTML, C, C++, Visual Basic, Visual Foxpro, Java, SQL..

do you have any programming background ? If yes, start with Java for Android, or Objective c for iOs, or PHP and HTML and Jquery (Javascript). If you do not have any programming background, then start with html and CSS for web, or C language for the other side of programming.

The mostly used language for biginners is Visual Basic.
