To the HR department how could you manage rough and tough Production Managers ?

This question puzzles me.  Could you give a bit more detail?

 

In the first place, production managers are not usually managed by HR, they would be managed by the production director.

 

Secondly, HR is a support function - its purpose is to serve the production managers.

You don't manage them. You just watch them. They manage themselves.

In general, there is no authority of HR department over other departments' managers. Yes they cooperate and work together to discuss some managerial plans.

However professional communication is a good way to solve problems !

I do agree with mr. Roberston as they should be managed either by Production or Operation Directors.

Besides, managers should be some how tough in order to manage their departments under any situation.
