Yeah from couple of months i am interviewing people who are much more experienced than me....Its always amazing to talk and hear from people who carry more exopsure with them, however if they are close to my age or younger to me I get cautious and consious and try to analyse myself ...how do i not know abt this? how come i am lame in this? etc etc....but it actually makes me eager to learn more...lol

I interact with roughly30 Evernote people on a daily basis, and I can say without hesitation that they all do their jobs better than I could hope to. Every time we have a discussion about work, I learn something.

We can not judge a professional by a5-60 minutes interview only. Sometime a smarter candidate fails to provide company's desired outcome. That's why probation period is there to evaluate him/her.

I feel we should hire smart people in the interest of the company. It will also help to decentralize working culture or else you will be preoccupied with all other concerns and rubbish things.

A Successful leader creates leaders under him, if we feel we should not hire smart guys then  we are restricting our organisation from growth path.

I agree, with Mr. Jetley.... but back to your question what makes one smarter... a PHD or hands on knowledge which translates to me as experience ... yes people are book smart with a PHD, but what you are looking for is a person with experience and not just books smarts

Certainly !

For2 reasons...First, I will have minimum supervision so that I shall think and plan of tomorrow. Secondly, I am conditioned for obvious reasons and my smart one will be out of box thinking and I only have to encourage him/her to try to bring in new insight for betterment. Recently I have done and recruited my immediate deputy similar way. The smart is progressing rapidly than expected.

I will not hesitate to recruit because some one is having more knowledge than me. Its good to have talented people in the team to share the knowledge across it and get benefit out of it. No one can be a master of everything. Some one may be good at one skill, the other may be good at another skill. As a whole we work together and produce better results as a team is important. So I definitely go for it without hesitation.
