Within my past 15 years of work experience, I have been changed only TWO jobs. I prefer a long-term stable job which is highly related to my current and future career growth.
Job rotations could have different reasons such as learning, changing environment, changing different location, changing position,....
but in my point of view it could improve both soft skills and technical.
however it depends on personal character, many people prefer to have same job with less changes but there are people who prefer to have risk on their job and improve their abilities and make their network.
I prefer to have more challenges and till now I have had different experiences like Marketing, Telecom(Technical) and managing different projects.
How Often Do People Change Jobs?
Job searching, in conjunction with career development, has become more of a lifelong endeavor than a one-time event. The days when people held one job for all, or most, of their working life are gone.
IT professionals need to keep current, but sadly the employer's environment, technologies, methodologies and tools dictate what these professionals know or can do. Any job is as good as the challenges that comes with it. I have been an IT consultant for over17 years. Over the course of my career, I started projects on my own while being employed to keep my talent and knowledge current. All my side projects are independent work done to help me being current with latest IT technologies. They give me the challenge of solving the current issues using the latest technologies and methodologies, the bigger the challenge the greater the learning experience.
I experimented changing my work place more than one time, but I discovered that useless what I did.
I need so much time to Merge with the work environment and individuals , more than that in many times I find myself regretted that I cut off my work in the previous company.
Therefore I decided to keep my current job steadfastly and loyally for almost30 years, perhaps I eventually made a happy retirement with a large sum of money in my bank accounts!!!
I changed jobs every time my spouse got new military orders ... , when my contract ended , got laid off ... I changed jobs several times ... some times just to advance through promotion in the same company
Went from Engineering to Production Planner... Buyer and back to Engineering
I have been working for some companies5-8 years and like the long term companies better than the temp work or the companies which had financial difficulties...
Some times you take jobs just to advance, go back to your primary job, jobs ending, lay offs and down sizing occur... and some times you just need to leave the area to get a fresh start in live// to forget and leave the bad part of your live behind
I had been change my Job for four times during my careers. I prefer a long-term and stable job with and leader company that have a true vision and welling to grow, there I can have a better opportunity to develop my skill and improve my knowledge to achieve my career target.
I prefer stay in one job and enlarge my responsibility and knowledge.
To be dedicated employee is always helping management because they can have trust team and support.
When you stay in one job you can better than anybody else improve process and gain trust of employees especially in HR area. In my companies employees always were glad to have HR who is always in place and ready to support.
