extend a Wi-Fi signal, they can be tricky to set up, can cause interference with the signal, and can be expensive. Also, don’t confuse the two, as they are different devices. A repeater repeats an existing wireless network. This means repeating the encryption and SSID. so you don’t have to log into another Wi-Fi network. An extender extends an existing network using a different SSID, which will require its own login. These days, Extenders are more common. We've tested several that do a wonderful job at covering "dead zones," including

D-Link’s Wi-Fi Dual Band Range Extender (DAP-) and Amped Wireless’ High PowermW Dual Band AC Wi-Fi Range Extender (REA).

I always see wireless repeaters is a bad idea.

repeating a wireless signal will cut the speed into half immediately! let a side the required ratio of overlap with repeated signal.

For an institution, I'd recommend going for access-points functionality instead of wireless repeaters.

put an accesspoint witha centralized authentication authorization and accounting server and add accesspoints were the signal is weak authenticated by the same server.
