any need could lead to a new successful startup
3 main factors:
1) clear definition of the need for this solution; which will lead to the best requirement analysis
2) consider the user experience in every step you take; which include profiling your segments, and choosing what is the best platform to use.
3) passion and belief in the idea, you can get that by communicating the right mentors and specialists.
this was not what you asked for, but capture a need and apply those three factors and you will have your own very successful startup. :) good luck
Any great project, be it IT or any other deparment, needs to get the attention and commitment of top management in regards to resources and cost-benefit analysis.
A good point to start will be your organization's Business Strategy and how the IT strategy can help achieve the strategic objectives. The high level goals from the business strategy can be translated to IT programs/projects which can enable the business to achieve its objectives. Example: The Business strategy is to rapidly expand into emerging markets. A great idea for an IT project will be to ensure that IT infrastructure and systems can be quickly scaled to meet the new demand and availability/capacity requirements.
Many things many people added just to add a line
Complete in triple constrains: Scope, Time, Cost
1- completed and accurate requirements at the beginning of the project
2- allocation of enough time to define and determine the requirements.
3- User involvement and executive management sup4-port.
4- resources and money
At a very generic level, there is a big difference between a successful project and a successful product. While there are plenty of factors that contribute towards success of an IT product, the main thing to keep in mind is product quality:
But for projects, the typical "Iron Triangle" or the "Triple Constraints" always decides if the project was indeed successful or not in meeting its objectives.
So, great ideas need to be for products, and not for projects
- Team and Resource acquisition.
- Product/System development.
- Time Management.
- Cost Management.
- Quality Management.
- Communication Management.
- Risk Management
All successful projects are driven from a potential innovative idea.
