i can answer your question based on my general opinion only,which I also didn't have any working experience in UAE before.
when we look into supply chain itself,it had been in a wide scope area that need to be discussed further.In a big circle of picture,supply chain covered logistics and transport industry.as transport contribute towards over one third of expenses in logistics activities,other logistics activities should be taken care enough,such as order processing,warehousing,material handling,and inventories.
When it comes to supply chain, as roughly I could say that the challenges occured in a first step was procurement of sources/raw materials,which includes searching or selecting the right vendor,who being able to continuously provide quality supplies together with good services.
