S1 - Sort and Discard – to sort through and sort out, remove unneeded items from the workplace
S2 - Shine and Inspect – to clean and inspect our work areas, improving safety and prevent breakdowns of equipment
S3 - Signpost and Order – everything in the work area has a “home” and can be easily found and put back
S4 - Simplify Standardize – we simplify the area further and make up the rules for the first three S’s and then follow and enforce them

5s is a tool that use in Japan for organizing your workplace in a clean, efficient and safe manner to enhance productivity, visual management and to ensure the introduction of standardized working. They are:1 Seiri (short, cleaning),2. Seiton (simplify, set in order),3. Seiso (shine, clean & check),4. Seiketsn (stabilize, conformity), Shitsuke (sustain, self discipline).
