finding websites and recruiters which specialize in your field...

take things of your skills which you know but you do not like to work in... I had for the longest time IT related skills listed ... yes I have experience, however not as a programmer nor do I want to work as such.... so take things like that off, you still can list them under the employer for which you did this work.... do not list more than10 years of past experiences unless you just have worked for2 or3 employers .... try to conceal your age especially if you are over50.... at times it is not possible (you can figure out very quickly ...22 years experience ...4 year college ... graduated from High school with18 = you are between44 and45 years old .....)

check the most current writing style ... be objective not emotional, do not embellish your accomplishments ... it will bite you in the long run and you may come off as a lire. ... and have to proof that you did these things

have a well written cover letter

If you must employ a professional resume writer ... most deliver a cover letter with your resume ... think twice ... in the case of my former spouse ... he spend the $500 on a professional and his own resume had more responses than the one from a resume writer ......

remember for which country you applying .... Canada uses a different format/style than the US or Germany ... all through I have send out my US resume to German employers and I have one written in English and in German...

Have for each occupation a different resume ... your Purchasing resume should be heavy on purchasing issues; your Administrative one more geared for assisting and coordinating with other personnel;  if you are in Engineering or the Engineering field ... it should reflect all the knowledge  you have in Engineering a brief statement about what you did in Purchasing for firm "xyz"

do not make the resume longer than3 pages ...2 is better and find the right template for you

Remember ..out of1000 resumes send you may get ten responses back with a request of a phone and perhaps1 for a face to face interview ... it is very hard to get a new job if you out of work or are over50...

Oh I almost forgot ... if you trying to work in the US, Canada or Europe ...

they have many people equally or even better qualified than the field you are applying for unless you do speak a langue which is critical needed, but make no mistake if Chinese is the language you can go to school and learn it ...

make sure you are more than just an expert ... they have so many people out of a job which are native speaker in their language

and yes do not give up .... good luck with the job hunt
