During the interview you would have got a fair idea about the attitude of the interviewer. if he is the friendly type and yu have a fair idea of your selection you can go ahead with your linked in connection. However if he is on the negative attitude side then better to refrain.
You can only connect with the interviewer after the appointment of the best candidate is finalised. Connecting prior is unproffessional and might suggest that you want an unfair advantage over the other candidates since this might open up a communication line between the two people.
