the basic requirement of establising vlan is one manageable switch,two nodes in different vlans where we can communicate.we have to change default vlan0 in different vlans
TO avoide Single Broadcast into Network
switch is enough for creating vlan. if we need to create intervlan we need a router layer3 device to communicate betwwen vlans.
why do we need VLANS? because at switch level there is only one broadcast domain, it means whenever new user is connected to switch this information is spread throughout the network.
if we want our network information is restricted we should create VLAN on switch which creates separate broadcast domain at switch level. VLAN can be used as a security purpose.
1. A switch that supports 802.1Q Tagging.
2. Uplink Trunk Port to carry VLANS
3. Access Ports to Assign VLAN
LAN Switch that supports VLANs configuration eg.Cisco Switch
VLAN capable switch, and NIC
