Newbies to the corporate world should not be afraid to speak about their personal projects and accomplishments. Eg having an article or comment published in a respected publication; assisting in a family business, learning a new language skill even if its a free course online. I look out for candidates who love reading particularly abstract topics not related to the business directly eg astrophysics, the history of language, vase making, the more bizarre the better. It tells me they are curious, can learn fast, and how well they present ideas coherently on the fly. Also a good indicator of what more they can bring to the existing work space where ideas and follow through are rooted in interpretation and initiative.

It depends on the person, he has to find time for spending on a matter which is important for him. He can do courses on subjects which gives additional qualification. If he is a lover of music, sports, etc he can find time and develop it if he is interested.

I strongly believe that sportspersons have almost all quality that any corporate would be looking for in new joiners, especially inexperienced staff.

Sports make a person a tough, good team player, quick learner, working under pressure with deadlines, accepting failure and ability to learn from them and leader.

Spend good time learning high market demand IT courses. For example, learn coding. Javascript is such a great programming language that someone has this skill, it is easy for him to move on to highly demanding IT skills/coding that are used in IOT, AI, ML and Blockchain.

Social Media is a great tool for school leavers and new graduates to follow specific areas related to their field of study. Eg. Mechanical engineers can follow various sites etc and stay in touch and up to date. They can attend seminars (often these do not cost much or are free) to also keep up to date with relevant industry. New graduates should also not expect to receive that Management role but rather opt for the low level role in the business and work your way up.
