first and foremost is the knowledge of the product you are promoting..........you must be confident..........adhere to the rules and regulation by the law agencies (specially when you are marketing specific product). emphasis must be on quality and be open to its precautions. (if you are marketing a cigarette brand you must tell smoking is injurious to health but your product is best of others........
it depends upon the product and customer requirement, ie Ensure that it's the right product for that specific customer, then we can highlights the advantages of the product and how it's beneficial or useful for this customer.
Master what you talk about and how you talk about. Marketing is a form of art, and knowing what to say can be the key to your success. Marketing has a golden rule "Know thy Product", that you need to use. Before i try to convince clients of what I'm trying to sell, I usually conduct extensive research about the product or services we're offering. We need to understand all the positives and the negatives, the benefits and the flaws, and or any technical or social aspects of the product/service.
Convince yourself, then try to convince the clients. I've mentioned this a dozen times on bayt i.e. "Clients/customers are the lifelines of any business".
Adapt the product to convince the customer OR adapt the customers mind to like my product..
