Just be your self, continue your work and perform accordingly...As a worker, you should not be affected by negative forces surround your organization...remember Initial is only the 1st step, organization may fail in their initial commitment but that does not reflect the overall status of the organization...After exhausting all the effort to be good in your Job then you may ask about the fulfillment of their initial commitment to you.

Its all depend on the Time...wait, watch & support your employer in tough Times. Everyone knows Life is a Journey... Up & Down is its strategy. After Every Rain there is a Sunshine. And may be you can see Rainbows... Means a colourful Life. Don't Stop... Move on

I will shorten the answer here because I do not think that this will always happen, quite the opposite. It rarely happens like this, but whoever has a right has the right to obtain it.

I think we are looking at one side of the coin and we ignore the other,i understand the saying "customer is always right" not employer...how about the case where you are contracted as a material control specialist and you are ordered by your employer to operate a forklift just because it appeared in your resume?..the saying that performing other duties as assigned is a misinformation and an employer should safeguard the contract signed between him and the other party  otherwise the issue will be weighing what you are earning and what responsibilities you are performing as an employee compared to what is in the market period!..the issue of how you performed   in the interview is baseless because you cannot hide a pregnancy if you are unqualified for the job you are doing the employer is to blame because he chose you because you are cheap.

Rise your value, or show your employer a bigger value of yourself. An employer see employees as processes or tools for his own success.

When your employer doesn't meet his commitments, it could be:

1) You didn't reflect the same image he saw during the interview.

2) Your work can be done by a person with less salary.

3) Your employer doesn't want you any more. If any of the above, you should try to rise your value in your employers eyes. Otherwise, try find another employer whom you can be a bigger value to him.
