In my opinion intuition should be followed and studied and analyzed further.
Following an assumption is quite risky because assumption is just an assumption without any connection to reality.

Killer instinct comes with CONFIDENCE and confidence comes from a scientific and logical thought process based on practical reasonable ideas and not on assumptions.
Ideas comes from knowledge, experience and continious learning.

There's a place for both in successful business Abdallah! Historical data, analysis, trends are all highly important in business, but so is the killer instinct in terms of what willl work and what will not :-)

Lot of people assume that they can sell it easily as they sell while associated with higher brand, but actually when they present themselve as individual no one actually look into it.
Need deep deep analysis to sell something.

In my opinion,If it is called a 'Wise' assumption,It is definitely different from a mere 'assumption'.We make wise assumptions with our experience on and off the job,we draw from past situations and outcomes and assume accordingly.
This is most likely a systematic, analytical and logical assumption.
What would differentiate a 'wise' assumption from just an ordinary assumption-ignoring all the logic and sanity and totally going by the 'Gut' feel which too would be clouded by pre concieved notions.
Not to say that 'gut' feeling is always a bad thing. On the contrary it might generate 'out-of-box' ideas which could possibly be the game changer.
So it depends on the risk taking profile and judgemet of an individual.

As a friend here said,  when your assumption is wise, you trust your intuition. But we are human beings and we can't argue that the strategy would bow in front of our confidence even if it comes with "Killer Instinct", because as human being, we tend to make mistakes.

If we think we are getting wise, we forget that society is getting wiser. Always Deep analysis makes it easier to understand it, and even it require time and patience it will only nourish your business.Bottom line, when It comes to Business, Don't Trust your Instincts. Because you never know...
