If a Civil Engineer want to learn Fro materials testing to raft foundations to finishing of project. In which line he should focus?
Engineering structures have been divided into6 main divisions ;-
1- Hydraulic structures such as regulators , dams , channels / drains ------- etc
2- Industry structures such as slaughters , farms , factories -------- etc
3- Buildings such as residential buildings , houses ------- etc
4- Highways , Bridges and airports --------- etc
5- Military structures .
6- Steel structures such as towers and skyscrapers .
In which one you find yourself inclines to , for me I love the residential structures.
Why do you want to specialize yourself? Is there an interest you prefer?
I can not tell you which one of the engineering fields in civil engineering is best to start out ... I am coming from the Mechanical Engineering field which I find the most diverse field, however this is not true for all countries in this world.
Please remember everyone has their own opinion ... just get your feet wet and find something you like ... with a very large possibility you will in the field you started out for a long time or return to it at one point of time...
Do not focus on which field ... get a job and than go from there and find out what your true calling is
DESIGN..........................
THE SITE ENGINEER FIELD IS THE BEST JOICE FOR STARTING A CIVIL ENGINEER'S PROFESSIONAL CAREER.
We studied all requirements and Technicals from College and coming as incomplete baking of bread. Once we are getting practical experience and how to use our civil engineering technics and knowledge in practice, then we are becoming complete baked bread.
Site Engineering is the best field to start the career.
A Civil Engineer should start his professional career from a Construction Field.
As a Civil Engineer one should start from SITE.
IMO its the very basic and you can go long if you start from grass root level.
Being on SIte you will get aware of all the Strucrural Components of a Building and then it will be easy for you to Draw & Design the same.
From Site Experience you can become a very good planner also as you would be knowing how much time a particular activity will take and on what scale.
We can write all day about Site Engineering and its benefits.
So as a Beginner I woould advice to go to SITE.
Best of Luck!
If you want to start this career, then I will refer you to structure engineering, in which the most suitable for you is, building structure, or you can say residential and commercial buildings, if you are in Pakistan or heading to gulf countries then this is best for you, easy to understand and have scope. If you still have time to learn and earn degree, then concentrate upon oil and gas field, in case you are going to gulf countries, as we all know that the base of their economy is oil.
