There must be an evaluation of the situation involved of course.

You see, these two have different pros and cons which must be considered at the same time:

A) Pipe Channels:

  •  Positive Side:

    * More an engineering infrastructure   * Reduces evaporation     * Limited access to the water     * Safer to conduct water and to control

  • Negative Side:      * More expensive   * You need tools to get branches from it  * because of its lower area the water gets more speed while conveying and so more pressure you get due to more speed of the water with the same discharge amount  * A more restricted access to your water resources

B) Open Channels:

  •  Positive Side:

    * Easier to Construct  * Better to check and maintain during time * Can take minerals into the soil specially when it's a natural channel rather than a concrete one  * You can easily take branches of the channel if you want

  • Negative Side:     * Can be destructed more easily specially when it's a natural channel *May let the water to get polluted * Water will be evaporated if the slope of the channel is low and the discharge of the water is low at the same time * Other people can take water without permission if the access to the channel is not restricted
