What is mission and vision ?

A mission statement specifies an overview of the group's plans to realize the vision by identifying the service areas, target observers, and values and goals of the organization, a vision statement expresses an organization's prime goal and reason for existence.

A Vision defines the optimal desired future, guidance and inspiration. It encourages people to focus on what's important and better understand organization-wide change and alignment of resources. While Mission defines the present state or purpose of an organization.
