A job posted online with only one vacancy ends up with two thousand plus applicants, would the HR have the time to scrutinize even twenty% of these?
I don't know - I suspect it differs from country to country. My own experience is appliying online from another company is extremely hard. I have been try for quite some time
But here at home in Australia applying online has and does work for me.
Also the industry you are looking in would impact effectiveness.
I would love advise and stories from those who have applied from abroad and succeeded in an online application from overseas.
Yes, Online job application works. However, the trend has some what diminished and most employer would want to see the prospective employee face to face to make a more informed decision. But still there is still a small number of company still resorting to online application to get potential applicants. This is more true for companies who wish to employ expatriates and are responsible for their own recruitment not using a third party in the target countries. At this point the only resource they have is to use the internet. I personally know a lot of company especially in the middle east who use only job application to get their applicants. It also depend on the type of work.
