I saw a guest that was asked to leave simply because he was sitting on the couch of the hotel without any transaction at the hotel (lobby hopping). The guard said that guest without any business at the hotel is not allowed to use any facilities ( the guard must have been referring to the couch as a facility)
I found this unprofessional and unethical. I wanted to help the guest file a complain because if it happened to me I would definitely feel bad!
Lobby is an open area
as long as the one you are talking about is not doing wrong things so its not accepted to ask him to leave. and guest can complaine .
But we me ask some one to leave if he
harassment, inconvenient behaving sleeping ,abusing dress code or any such thing
Recently I was waiting for a city bus at 5:45 a.m. The bus was due at 6:17 a.m. and it was freezing and the bus stop was in a rather questionable part of town. I am an elderly retired female who was not using wifi. I was just going to wait at the Marriott Hotel Lobby until 6 a.m. when a safe place would open. A security guard out of no where came up and asked me if I was a member or a guest and threw me out. I have stayed at Marriott Hotels before only when I had no other option. I think they are overpriced and I have not been treated well by them in the past. If Marriott's policy is to throw elderly ladies into the cold in a dangerous part of town they ought to at least have a sign so stating. For the price Marriott charges, they can afford a sign. I emailed them regarding the situation.
For me personally, the context. When I am a guest at the hotel, I do not know the bigger picture. Therefore I will rather ask to see the managing person and discuss what I saw happened and ask him/her to attend to the situation please.
If it is my place to attend to the situation, I will immediately go to the situation, take both the guard and the person in question to an closed office and attend to the context and situation in private. For the sake of professional conduct and security. Organizations have procedures for situations to follow in a best conduct way. If in this case the person hanging around had a need, I would attend to then afterwards.
I will ask the guard to allow the ghust and will tell him to come back if I need his help
