CSR corporate social responsibility is the obligation now after the amendment of companies act in in india for every corporate to share their stipulated % of profits for the cause of social assistance or for the sake improvement of society, therefore respective officials or chairpersons of the Corporate's can make use of the social media to fulfill their social responsibility which is an obligation on them as per the amended Act in India.

Hope the same way the other countries can also make use the social media in fulfilling their social responsibility out of their profits for any novel causes though may not be a obligation as per their respective legislations.

my2 cents. Thanks.

Now there a lot of countries where companies are required to report their result on G3 or G4 standards. It doesn't mean that they it necessary to share their result on social media platforms but if you want to be truly transparent and responsible you should share it. In fact your question is not about sharing the CSR results on social media so I'll speak about the relationship between social media and CSR. Corporate social responsible means you have to have a responsible attitude on the community where you acting. Moreover you need to have a dialogue between you and communities and this dialogue can be done via social media platforms, websites or on your own platforms for project's contests. It's hard to keep people on your websites and your own platforms so the easier way to communicate with them is on social media. Every company should be active on social media but a company should not use the company's profile to promote their CSR's actions. Or not only the company profile. Most of companies have a different profile for CSR actions because they have national or international CSR Programs with a certain identity so CSR department have to have a different profile on social media platform to promote the CSR actions. Of course it can be share on the the profile's company but the communication between CSR department and community have to be done on a different profile independent by profile's company.
