We fully understand the golden ratio in architecture when we develop an understanding of the mathematical term "proportion", which is the equality of two ratios. Two pairs of quantities a, b and c,d are in proportion if their ratios a/b and c/d are equal. In architectural structures, the presence of the golden ratio provides a sense of balance and equilibrium. The geometrical figure of the golden ratio is essentially pleasing and easy on the eye.

Golden ratio in interior design or architecture is basically a method for evolution of geometric pattern in design as per requirement.

Golden ratio

If you divide a line into two parts so that: the longer part divided by the smaller part is also equal to the whole length divided by the longer part, then you will have the golden ratio.

The coolest thing about architecture is the ability to have buildings be very different – in size, shape, and style – and yet they are similar to their core. Whoever be the building designer, it is constructed from a single blueprint. No matter how the building looks after construction, it’s still is assembled from a collection of natural things. No matter what the building’s eventual purpose is, the golden ratio was most likely used to determine its proportions.

This ratio –1:1., for those are wondering – occurs over and over again in nature. It is found in everything from the shape of most of the objects in this world, and even the proportions of the human body.

In mathematics, two quantities are in the golden ratio if their ratio is the same as the ratio of their sum to the larger of the two quantities. The figure on the right illustrates the geometric relationship. Expressed algebraically, for quantities a and b with a > b > 0,

\\frac{a+b}{a} = \\frac{a}{b} \\ \\stackrel{\\text{def}}{=}\\ \\varphi,

where the Greek letter phi ( or ) represents the golden ratio. Its value is:

\\varphi = \\frac{1+\\sqrt{5}}{2} =1.\\ldots.A

In order to better understand the Golden Ratio, it is helpful to have an understanding of the mathematical term proportion.  The Columbia Encyclopedia defines the term ‘proportion’ in mathematics as the equality of two ratios.  “Two pairs of quantities a, b and c, d are in proportion if their ratios  and  are equal…”  In other words, the two pairs of quantities are in proportion if the equation  holds true.  When considering the Golden Ratio, the quantities refer to lengths of line segments.

In these terms, the Gold Ratio is a division of a line segment into two segments that such that the ratio of the original segment to the larger division is equal to the ratio of the larger division to the smaller division.  Let C represent the original segment, A the larger division, and B the smaller division.  It is helpful to picture the line segment as follows:

It follows that C = A + B and.  Therefore, A is the geometric mean of B and C, and is commonly referred to as the Golden Ratio.

The Golden Ratio and Phi have been used in various geometrical constructions throughout history.  This distinctive ratio can be found in the human body, nature, solar systems, DNA, the stock market, the Bible and theology, music, artwork and design, and architecture.  Even though the Golden Ratio is found in several aspects of culture and science, one can experience the ratio visibly in structures of ancient and modern architecture.

Golden Ratio is the balance and cemetery. and the Greek are the first people ho use this method. And it concentrated on Function more than the beauty of the building.
