You must have your warehouse designed according to FIFO inventory system, keep in mind the objective must be to save cost, time and warehouse space, which can only possible if warehouse storage and material handling and information handling functions are well manifested. You also need to care inbound and outbound shipment handling. First in First out normally applicable in Xdoc and fast expiring products. Wish you all the best. Sami
Most of the Warehouse uses FIFO ( First In First Out ) mean hold the latest items which came recently in warehouse, for costumer order you can pick item which came First mean by old received shipments(Date wise) specially item with expiry date, such as Food and perishables.
To answer this question we have to set the facts that LIFO applies for the items that has the same specs and the difference is in the date ( i.e. expiry date or ordered date).
To use LIFO method to maintain the inventory; we create3 locations in ERP system
1- Stock on hand: this is the stock quantity that we are selling.
2- Level 2 is a temporary stock location.
3- Level3 is the main inventory location
parameters will be set as follows:
When the stock on hand reaches a certain point we supply the required quantity from Level2 and accordingly supply level2 from level3.
The stock will be arranged sequentially as per shipment date or expiry date or other parameters( sometimes the new shipment may contains items that will expire earlier than older shipments) so Inventory manager has to decide and arrange accordingly his FIFO term.
WMS could hold control of its operations only if the FIFO is followed. Certain circumstances where a special request being made by the stock owner or any adjustments to be carried out by the inventory controller himself, then every WMS should support with an enabled option to do so manually within the system. A perfectly designed ERP, also customized with adherence to the fundamentals of warehousing is requisite.
fifo is first in first out. we can manage it frequently by placing in an order of arriving good in correct format and ensuring dat d dispatched item s the first material collected dan others.
Most of the industry company uses FIFO ( First In First Out ) which means to hold stock and maintain inventory .It is used to movement of those items which does not have expiry restrictions or does not depreciate in value much over items . It maintain the daily inventory of the stocks especially in management techniques.
All ERP system has a system where it picks what comes first based on dates. If not, tell your IT to do it. Beware of goods that returns after sale. There could be a possibility of conflict of dates!!
Most of the Warehouse uses FIFO ( First In First Out ) mean hold the latest items which came recently in warehouse. for costumer order you can pick item which came First mean by old shipment ( old shipment which receive by warehouse and ready to pick ) specially food item and expiry items ,LIFO ( Last In First Out ). In WMS we can hold the latest shipment ( Items ) to pick and also in ERP system to new shipment you can receive in hold location ( shorten location / non pick able location ) and base on warehouse stock data can move normal location to pick under stock controller instruction.
