How i can work on total station?

Total Station is one of the Key Survey Instrument engaged for Electro Digital Data acquisition during surveying activites. Both Horizontal Angles, Vertical Angles, Distances or XYZ - Cordinates (i.e Northings, Eastings and Height above Datum) can be obtained from Total Station.

Total station is a combination of Electromagnetic Distance Measuring Instrument and electronic theodolite. It is also integrated with microprocessor, electronic data collector and storage system. The instrument can be used to measure horizontal and vertical angles as well as sloping distance of object to the instrument. Microprocessor unit processes the data collected to compute:

1. average of multiple angles measured

2. average of multiple distance measured

3. horizontal distance

4. distance between any two points

5. elevation of objects and

6. all the three coordinates of the observed points.

Data collected and processed may be down-loaded to computers for further processing. Total station is a compact instrument and weighs 50 to 55 N. A person can easily carry it to the field. Total stations with different accuracies, in angle measurement and different range of measurements are available in the market. Figure below shows one such instrument manufactured by SOKKIA Co. Ltd. Tokyo, Japan.

you can measure eny boint's coordnates or distances and angles

Setup At station point. (Centring,Bubbleling) Put Coordinates in station setup for Benchmark and back site.

Measure it. check the back site coordinates or ok or not.

if ok then go to setting-out for layout.

Dear friends based on your question I understand that you are looking for how to handling the instrument.

Here I would like to say that somebody should you show function mean how make orientation and how you collect data or how you are setting out the proposed coordinates  or how make offset of line or point .

If you have basic knowledge of using tehodolite surveying then it is easy for you to use Total station.

Same procedure we will flow but the function of key is different.

So if you go through the user’s manual you can get some hints for using it or you need somebody / supplier should show you the procedure to handle it.

Make sure always you have a check survey result at beginning and end of you work.

but i know these but i want training on total station 

if you want to strat work with total station need two control points or point and bearing

for two point you will set machine in the point and adjust machine vertical and horizntal if you wanna to measure level so you have to measure height machine .

set station point X,y,z

and also back side point x,y.z

then you can measure or set out any point.
