There are some shared and common skills. However, there are also some differences. The Manager is a more specialized person in his/her field. On the other hand, the entrepreneur usually possesses a wide area of specialties. For example, the entrepreneur or a small business owner will have to deal with a different areas/sections within his business such as marketing, finance, customer care and HR. However, the manager, for example, the marketing manager will be only responsible for the marketing activities inside his section.
In addition, the entrepreneurs are more risk takers and take more initiatives. On the other hand, Managers are more constrained by rules and policies and superior/s approval. In another word, they have limited authority, unlike the entrepreneur.
To summarize, a good manager doesn't necessarily make a good entrepreneur. There are definitely additional skills required in order to be a successful entrepreneur.
