There are3 available "flavors" for Autodesk Navisworks. Each of them can be used by various categories of users in any BIM project to allow for completions of specific tasks: visualization,4D planing, clash detection and coordination, QTO and5D, etc., as described below:
Navisworks Simulate allows you to do coordination (AutoCAD, Glue), model simulation and analysis,4D animations (3D+time) and5D scheduling (4D+cost), quantity takeoff from the models as well as from2D information
Navisworks Manage does everything that Simulate does, plus it offers you functionality on clash detection interference checking and clash detection management.
Navisworks Freedom which is a free viewer for NWD (and also3D DWF) files making it very useful when visualization is involved.
Model Review, Clash Detection, Quantification, Timeline and scheduling, Render, Animations.
it help you
-it helps you to Provide a better clash detection for coordination (nw manage) specially when you are using different BIM softawre for different disciplines ;as it supports most of the BIM software extensions .
-providing4D-5D simulation with time and cost as you attach the Primavera CSV file and mp the activities.
- in the presentation it is the easier/lighter to navigate/walk through
-for method statements as to prepare a document or animation for elements fabrication setting out.
-also you can compare between actual progress and planned progress which can be used for project claims .
and many things depending on the tasks required from you.
I mainly use it after finishing the whole project in Revit for finding & generating a clashing report for the project items. Also for making the BOQ in more accurate way than Revit. These are the main two ways for me to Navisworks
