Slip can be defined as the difference between the flux speed (Ns) and the rotor speed (N).
Speed of the rotor of an induction motor is always less than its synchronous speed.
It is usually expressed as a percentage of synchronous speed (Ns) and represented by the symbol ‘S’.

SLIP is the difference between the synchronous speed of the magnetic field and the shaft rotating speed and would be some number of RPM or frequency.
The slip increases with an increasing load, thus providing a greater torque

Slip is defined as difference between Synchronous Speed ( Speed of rotation of magnetic field) and Rotor Speed (Speed of rotatory part of induction motor).
S= (Ns-Nr)/Nsx100% Ns= Synch speed Nr= Rotor Speed S=Slip Slip increase with increase of mechanical load.

Slip, S is defined as the difference between Synchronous speed, Ns (Speed of magnetic field or "Electrical speed") and operating speed, Nr (Rotor speed or "Mechanical Speed").

it is the difference between syncronous speed and rotor speed. high horse power induction motor have low slip and low horse power have high slip.
