What advice would you give to an individual who is coming from a different culture to join your organization?

A large population is visiting Arab countries / states for employment from different part of the world and also every country / state has its own laws, environment and culture therefore new person seek advise from expert prior to accepting employment.

This indeed is a very relevant question in the current times. with growing number of employees being sourced from other countries it is imperative that organization also acts as an enabler for such employees to ensure long term and successful engagement. Such employees needs to be taken through a cultural orientation program which should emphasize on cultural differences, labor laws, dos and don'ts and taxation laws, if applicable. An organization can also add value by creating buddy programs or counseling desks for such employees, which can facilitate such services on a regular basis. An employee also needs to be sensitive towards the rules and principles of the new country and therefore be open to learning. hope this helps.

RESPECT. Respect whatever he/she finds existing in the organization. Respect the people, the policies and the company. Respect can take people to greater heights. However, it does not mean that the newcomer will be totally subordinate to everything dictated in the organization. He/She should be well-oriented about everything so when he/she will perform something, he/she will not violate any policy or disrespect people.

 

On the other hand, the same respect must also be given to that person. It is pointless if that person respects the organization but he/she does not get the same respect from his colleagues. 

 

All people have different beliefs, priorities, and problems. It is because of this that their points of view about the world change. However, humans should also understand and accept that everything on this planet is created for a reason. No man is an island. Without blue or yellow there will be no green. Without hydrogen or oxygen there will be no water. What is the purpose of having a high IQ but having a low EQ?
