Unsurprisingly, my CMO and CFO asked me about it: Why would he make such a bold prediction? Because I’ve seen first hand what an acute asymmetry in the supply and demand of talent can do to salaries. Case in point: engineering salaries. I don’t have to convince you that the opportunity for software developers over the past decade has skyrocketed. Why is that? Because software developers have the ability to create amazing leverage. They can write code one time, which then has the potential to make thousands (or millions) of happy customers. My argument is that marketers have that same potential. The best marketers have the ability to create immense leverage for their organizations. As such, the demandfor these kinds of marketers is rising quickly — and supply is not catching up. Result: Marketing salaries are going to go up.
Sincerelly, Colleen, I don´t know if it will double next five years. (I hope they´ll triple in shorter period.. ;) )
What I see in this last decade and so on, in Europe and western countries, is that the marketeers are filling an revelant position in any organizational structure. Something that in USA already happened many decades ago.
More and more the entrepreneurs/employees are concious that is the marketing field that will increase "value" through the relation company/clients.
Belongs to marketing find out opportunities (old or new), to develop them and make profit of those.
So, in this sceneary, hope those salary predictions will be a reality soon.
Marketeers are in high demand lately and competition to supply great content marketing is on the rise. I'm sure that as organizations strive to pluck the best marketing contestant to reach the highest advantage, marketeers will finally be able to demand a greater status position wise and financially.
