What is the difference between store and warehouse?

The term store is used for small scale operation, for storage of goods/spare parts /consumable items.

  Warehousing is used for bigger operation with full facility of fork lift, truck, systematic storage of goods which can be located through software and in most of  cases all operations are automated including picking the item from the  shelf, packing and loading in the truck for delivery  at designated point. 

A store or warehouse, is a building or room where materials ( Usually called inventory) are kept. Store keeping involves the proper receipt, safe custody, preservation and issue of the materials to various users or customers and also the physical and financial accounting of the stocks kept in the store. The two words "Store" and "Warehouse" are used synonymously in India while in the west the word "Warehouse" is preferred and the word "Storehouse" is used rather than "Store"

There is big difference between store and warehouse.

Store means where we can keep necessary items for urgent need, for example in big supermarket and hypermarket they have their store, in order to fulfill shortage of supply.

but if we talk about warehouse, so we can say that in bulk quantities we keep and store all items there for supply and logistic in various purpose. warehouse is known for it bulk quantity capacity. 

Store - Storage location where all the materials are stored and Inventory takes place on qty basis.mainly the physical inventory.

Store as part of Materials Management, can only provide information on the total quantity of material in stock,

Warehouse Management enables a precise specification of the exact location of a particular quantity of material

and informs you whether this quantity is currently in a storage bin or on the move.

For complex stock management Warehouse is used

Warehouse is an area or a building where stock/material is stored prior to their distribution for sale.

 Store can be referred as a shop of any size where quantity or supply of stock/material received from the warehouse is kept for sale as needed

Warehouse will be outside the industry,May be distribution channel or in another city to help customers to get products delivered fast. Stores is inhouse facility to help manufactuing activities,Such as incoming and in some case outgoing also stored in stores.
