Good project management can be achieved with good leadership skills, regular stage and gate reviews of your progress toward your clearly defined KPIs. Achievements should be confirmed as good with stakeholders and end users. Any failures should be documented and reviewed so that they are not repeated. Objectives should be clearly communicated to all project team members. Stakeholders should be carefully managed and only those who hold real power over your project should be involved along the way. Always appreciate your team and keep good records, reports, and an updated project plan to compare to the original.
Project should be maintained right from the initiation to the closure. Below are some of the key points in my view which would help the project managers to manage the project in a god manner
1) Clear requirements and proper sign off
2) Maintain the issue list and track the issues for the resolution properly
3) Update the project status to the stakeholders on timely basis
4) Enforce proper change management mechanism
5) Perform risk analysis on timely basis
6) Keeping the team morale high, this would yield much better results
7) Proper closure/retrospection of the project
