For me, a direct approach to meet client's needs is to perform survey and the data itself will allow you to produce the goods and/or services your company has to offer. While on the other hand, to meet satisfaction requires the request for feedback for continuous improvements to satisfy them.

Also statistics are important to track issues that are happening regular to create solutions. Its a very broad subject but this is a basic response.
