The world has become an extremely small place, where travelling and communication have become part of every one’s daily routine.  I believe that to work and succeed in the GCC / MENA regions, lawyers must be more and more multi-cultural, multi-lingual and flexible.  The market is highly competitive as well as demanding and therefore young lawyers must be able to stand out and get distinguished among the crowd. Having various experiences in different markets or jurisdictions is desirable.  If possible, experience in well-established and reputed organisations or firms is certainly a valued feature.

The advice I have constantly provided to trainees I mentor has been: find out what your competitive advantage is and exploit it. In this competitive market distinguishing yourself from the crowd is an asset in keeping your job and having access to growth opportunities. Such advantage may or may not be related to the legal field and it's usually in the form of a particular skill; from speaking several languages to being a good blogger.

Willing to work as a trainee (for free or at a reduced fee) may get your foot in the door. Then it is up to you to show that you are a quick learner, willing to multitask and put in the extra effort needed to get some recognition at the beggining of your career. You may still need to prove why you should be hired on a permanent basis. It is then when it may pay off to find what your employer needs (even if it doesn't know it needs it) and prove that you can deliver that and more.

Below are the skills one should develop to succeed as a law for sure., so I advice the young law graduates to acquire the below skills and hone them and I too in the same process though I'm not so young as learning is continuous. In legal field very few new professionals are lucky otherwise it is very hard and struggle time to survive in all aspects..

-Good communication skills

-Analytical thinking

- Attention to Detail

-Drafting skills

-Understanding law and application where ever applicable

-Be good with the basic principles of law is very must.

These are few for sure required and need to develop regularly. My2 cents. Thanks.
