In my opinion one should ask questions related to company culture/recent media campaign/performance/financial result/ growth for job or hierarchy level in the company which indicates that the candidate is really interested in company and did some research about company routine.

If Company has more than1 selection then they would prefer to go for one who has shown interest during interview.

As I understood your question, you are asking if you (as an applicant) can ask a question to your interviewer.

-          What are the expectation (of company to you) for this role?

-          When is the expected time to join?

-          What is the confirmation you can get from interviewer if you are selected or not and until when you can expect it (this is a very important question and very okay to ask).

If interviewer answered you otherwise or he answered you impolitely or became angry, try your best to look somewhere else and not to be in this company (smiled).

You must ask this question on how he/she is progressing / leading, create a platform for the  interviewer to connect with you on a more personal level, sharing his or her feelings..

Secondly, understand from interviewer point of view on how your contribution to the company can make difference?

Thirdly, express your concerns or clarifications if you have, frankly. For example, variation in the share value, new CEO on board, policies and speculations on growth and Sustainability

In my opinion, the job seeker can take advantage of this question to clarify any points about : the company, the responsibilities of the position, the degree of autonomy or have more details on the organization of a pypical day or on salary.

This allows the employer to see if the candidate is fully interested and proactive.

These kind of questions depends on the business type, industry, position and so on. However, you can ask for an example,

  • What are the short- and long-term goals for your organization?
  • Why is the position vacant? and why the previous employee left this position?
  • What type of culture does your organization have?

At the end of the interview: you can end it with a sense of humor, such as

  • When can I get the offer?,
  • Or can I start tomorrow? With a big smile on your face.
