I firmly believe it makes business sense to hire a candidate with impeccable qualities of honesty and integrity, who can be counted on to deliver better sustainable growth to an organisation, rather than hire an individual of questionable means, but with a better proposition.
Yes I am entirely in agreement with your assertion that the qualities of Honesty and Integrity do accentuate a person's experience especially the one with an administrative profile. let me quote below a few well known qotes of highly regarded indivuduals
”Achievement of your happiness is the only moral purpose of your life, and that happiness, not pain or mindless self-indulgence, is the proof of your moral integrity, since it is the proof and the result of your loyalty to the achievement of your values.” --Ayn Rand
”Honesty is the cornerstone of all success, without which confidence and ability to perform shall cease to exist.” --Mary Kay Ash
“To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity.” --Douglas Adams
As very aptly defined by Susan Hathfield, Integrity is one of the fundamental values that employers seek in the employees that they hire. It is the hallmark of a person who demonstrates sound moral and ethical principles at work. A person who has integrity lives his or her values in relationships with coworkers, customers, and stakeholders. Honesty and trust are central to integrity. Acting with honor and truthfulness are also basic tenets in a person with integrity.
People who demonstrate integrity draw others to them because they are trustworthy and dependable. They are principled and can be counted on to behave in honorable ways even when no one is watching.
Honesty is valued in every communication and transaction between customers and coworkers; it is a fundamental need between people in the workplace, because it creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
Integrity stems from workers being honest with themselves, completing tasks, honoring debts, exceeding expectations, keeping promises, which, if accomplished consistently, builds a good reputation. Integrity of a person is the ability to ensure that there is no gap between their words and deeds. He or she says what he or she does!
Professional integrity is a quality that can take fast forward your success by creating an image of you being a responsible worker who not only gets the job done well and in time, but deliver quality work consistently.
You can measure your career graph by the job title you hold, the salary you earn or achievements your resume displays, but an unspoken yet highly valuable meter that judges how good an employee or leader you are is how high you rank when it comes to workplace integrity.
What value does integrity bring to an office?
Simply put, companies that share a reputation of delivering reliable services to customers are run by an employee base that has its work ethics in place. Working with integrity creates a positive work environment by building trust among co-workers and doing away with insecurities and the need for micromanagement.
Whether you are a team member or a leader with employees working under you, demonstrating transparency and trustworthiness in both words and actions, and not being afraid to stand up for what’s right, even if you stand alone and taking the right moral ground are some elements that make up for strong personal and professional character.
Here are some traits that define integrity at workplace:
· Honesty to work and with colleagues – If you commit to a task, do you see it through till its completion? Do you utilize your office time judiciously? Are you a good team player? Let not just how much you work define your competency, but also how you accomplish the work. Be dependable in your work dealings and unfailing in deliverance to deadlines.
· Making mistakes is okay, hiding them is not – It is said that failure is the stepping stone to success. Goof ups at work need not spell doom for you; rather, admitting that you went wrong shows a positive quality about you – that you take responsibility for your work. Openly discussing trouble shoots in a project opens doors for learning new and better ways of tackling an issue from experienced peers and superiors.
· Knowing what and when to talk, and when to not – Good communication skills include not just being able to convey what you have to say and lending a patient ear to others, it also refers to the ability to filter harmless office conversations from malicious gossip. Words are a powerful entity that can make or break work relationships. Remember, what you choose to say reflects a lot about the person that you are.
· Leaders that walk the talk – If you have people who work under you, always remember to give credit where it is due, be fair in delegating and assessing work, and open minded to the views of your team members, and working towards collaborative success rather than seeking individual limelight.
A person with administrative responsibilities must have honesty and integrity as he or she is the corner stone in this all important department dealing with people. His/ her role in the administration department when genuinely and sincerely performed leads to creation of a positive environment in the work place which in turn leads to improved performance and creation of a people ready organization.
I agree with you. I also belive that true is always tru for that we don't have to face any deficulties in future
Yes ofcourse it's always great to be honest in life because if we are honest we don't have to think twice before giving an answer but again problem is our honesty will benefit one and can harm another. It's an achievemnt to be honest provided how it's effecting a person. I just thought of this example being in training blessed to get instant examples.
A poor man whose children are sick needs money, stole Rs.500 from the locker one is complaining about him to the manager due to which he will have to loose his job, second is discussing with him why he did so and warning him not do it next ever.
Try to identify the reason behind the behavior or the act. and complaint rule says that before complaining about someone first intimate the person once second go is to face the punishment.
As punishment is hard to teach people in life but understanding and love are always great to grant always as Lord does to us most.
and always love using3 key words in life "Sorry, please,
and Thank you"
Indeed this is right
yes , my life policy is the the truth no matter what , it applies to my daily office life , its mcuh and burden free , when its the truth told than a lie told , which wil be needing1000 more to cover up.
truth = solution = no time wastage / no stress :)
lie = more lies = no solution
Yes, I totally believe and follow these qualities in my personal and professional life, since it helped me earn my respect and position.
These qualities may be hard to digest for people who don't think that good qualities should be followed in today's world and that we have to follow others footsteps in order to accommodate ourselves in their group, who seems to be stronger than the people with good qualities.
If we have leaders or managers who possess true qualities of leadership, it is only such people who will value, recognise and acknowledge people with these rare qualities to be assets for their organisation in today's world.
My personal opinion is that we should not stray away from our good character, even in difficult times, as we have to live with our conscience ultimately, which no one can control.
100% agree.
Honesty and integrity are qualities needed for a strong and secure foundation in the working world.
These qualities are hard to take away from a person who has these characteristics. Importantly, when everyone else is trying to cover their tracks because of their lies and deceit, people who remain loyal to their honesty and own integrity will rise to win the final war, their heads held high and respected by others.
