Why should we manage the contractor's safety in our workplace / company?

In order to sustain safe workplaces free from incident/accident that may cause harm to human or loss in properties which at the end will delay the project execution and progress as well as leads to financial losses

Because it is the basic requirements of clients to protect the contractor's safety by legally and as company procedures.

Because the workers or co-workers are companies responsibility 

As a responsible client, it important to ensure the safety of the contractor staff as they are working for us only. Moreover, it is required to be mentioned in the company’s health and safety policy so that overall accountability and safety of the external people can be assured whenever they entering to the company’s premises.

Following few factors can be considered to manage the contractor safety inside the client’s company premises.

1.unsafe activities or accidents by the contractor staff may result in injuries to client’s staff, damage to the property

2.Reputation of the company may loss/delay in the project or operation due to accidents by the contractor and inspections or audit from the legal authority’s/government bodies.

3.Equal consideration can increase the staff morale which will help to derive to a safe atmosphere in the company/project

Selection of the competent contractor rather than cost saving is essential which will ensure the full compliance in line with the requirements.

We should manage the contractor's safety in our workplace because being main contractors we are responsible and accountable to answer the clients.

First and foremost, it is of paramount importance to understand the impacts HSE incidents/ accidents have on project outcome, as well as realizing how HSE related decisions affect projects (these are concerns which many HSE practitioners do not comprehend). 

Then we look at;

The management of workplace safety is not just about project outcomes, but there also is the human factor where every individual is allowed an incident/ accident free environment, which is an entitlement. Therefore, when we as owners or main-contractors are in a position of controlling, managing and directing a worforce to carry out jobs for us, it is our due diligence and obligation to ensure every humans' entitlement of a safe workplace is exercised without prejudice and in an unbiased fashion.

The employer shall provide all public safety tools and take necessary measures to apply the rules of public safety within the facility to maintain and safety of staff and follow-up contractors for the application of public safety and take the rules of procedure of appropriate procedures and necessary with the offenders because the damage is due to the owner and the facility.

Contractors are part of the work force, and to sustain a safe work place enviornment, we should consider the contractor as part of the work force, and remember that each and every unsafe behavior by the staff and the contractor will eventually lead to raising the threat to the safety for everybody at the work place.

the responsibility of the safety at the work place lies on the company, and it will be accountable for any unsafe behavior and related incidents, and to prevent that, the best way is to manage the contractor`s safety by proper safety induction & daily safety meeting prior to entering the work place and a constant supervisor during work time.

We don't ever need accident or incident due to work safety, human health protection,environmental safety requirements.

As soon as the contractor enters the premises he becomes the responsibility of that workplace. This means that if an accident occurs, that the workplace he entered can be held accountable.

Therefore it is important to have inductions take place for all new workers and contractors to make them aware of the safety rules of the workplace they are about to enter. 

Indirectly the contractor is employed by the company, hence need to make sure he complies with the Safety rules. 

Safety is the part of the Business, Overall responsibility, Accountable for all Activities, Incidents. the activities of contractors may suffer our production, there should be contrctor safety procedures in each & every company. Contract should comply with safety  Procedures.
