To improve machine performance and reduce operating and maintenance cost, one could have a Long Term Work Order or Long Term Service Contract with a reputed service company. The contract may include following schedules.
1. Regular weekly/monthly servicing as part of preventive maintenance- at fixed piece written in the contract
2. Performance report on monthly basis to find out whether the operation cost is reasonable. This shall be shall be based on operating cost per hour or per day based on actual consumption of fuel/ electricity/ other consumables. (at fixed price)
3. Replacement with Supply, fitting and fixing of new spares: As per schedule of rates specified in the contract for normal/standard consumable spares.(At fixed price)
4. Finally, replacement of parts outside the scope of contract: The contractor shall do it quickly at the negotiated price
With the first three services as above at fixed price, the machine performance will remain at optimum. Only in rare occasions, the schedule service as mentioned in “4” will be required as part of the process.
Every thing in this universe is having some life span it will be out of service when reached to that point. But the working life can be made good by keeping proper maintenance services. The preventive maintenance should be done on daily, weekly, monthly, quraterly, half yearly and yearly basis. As per the manufacturer recommendations some items had to be changed and some based on operating conditions. The operating hands should also be well trained personnel who can identify and know the proper working and maintenance need of any machine.
If maintenence and Operations are done in a systematic and correct way then machine's performance can be improved and operating cost can also be reduced as well.
Dear Sir
Mnt cost and machine performance is based on work order target set for plan execution for the required assignment depending on the quality of service generated /output on per day or daily basis
