Managers don't have time to plan every employee's schedule, he handout tasks, and give them timeline, cause everything has timeline to be accomplished, now how employee uses his own way to improve his own work is by using S.M.A.R.T.,
Managers should focus on improving employee's skills, and give fair chance to improve each and every employee, which is why choosing the task is important.

I would prefer myself. Again if there is any dependency like work scheduled/allocated by my boss as per his planning, and again I will have to plan internally to complete the work assigned to me in a best optimal way of doing things. Thanks.
I would Like to Have my Own Plans and Schedules as that will help me to understand my Job role and expend my Management abilities more , personally i hate being guided by other people, however the manager will be always my N 1 for Consultation and reviewing my Work, my projects and my career improvement.

It;s always good to have a planned and prioritized way of working and Planning is one of the most important tools to achieve success at any given point of time. For Employees who deal with Customer Service profile, they are into a dynamic profile and they need to be well planned for their day. It's you who know your clients/Customers not your boss ! So strategies your work and Yes, it's always good to get a suggestion and confirmation from the seniors(Boss,May be :) ) if you feel dubious.

I prefer to plan my own schedule. As long as i am delivering results, how I perform my jobs shouldn't be my superior concern. I believe that you should tell your employees/subroutines what to do not how to do it.
A Manager has to manage the operations as per the organization"s polices and targets by leading the team to success.I don't bother my boss for the day to day operations where as update him time to time.
Keep in mind a boss who is a true leader always give the space for his managers to grow by his own.
More over this gives him an excellent oppurtunity to build his own team...
Depending on Planning tasks/activities, weekly with the team members to ensure of their achievements, Monthly with managements for the status reports.
