The phrase speaks for itself. A buyer who has enough information of what he/she is purchasing would make a sound decision whether he/she will be a patron of the product. He can be a loyal customer and potential cost-free advertiser through word-of-mouth who would recommend the product to others and educate them as well about the products benefits and advantages.

The statement is self explanatory in nature, but as a marketer we need to be more serious about business and have to be very sure that we are offering right services to them, as educated buyer always evaluate on all the possible pros and cons and they have pre assumed expectation from the set of product or services we are offering to them so we have to make sure that once encounter with the actual product and services being offered he or she should have better perception value or else it may backfire to us.

A customer has been introduced to the product in a more elaborate manner by a well trained sales person and knows how well it has been stitched for instance (Italy), or where the scents have been imported from (Grass in France) or forms a bond with the story of the product (Hermes, Ferrari, Bentley), is more likely to want to make that purchase.

Additionally since it has been an informed choice the customer is most likely to be an excellent source of positive word of mouth and will most likely happily return to make a similar purchase.

"An Educated buyer makes a better buyer"

The above statement means that a knowledgeable buyer will be a successful one meaning that he would not be cheated on by the seller ; lets imagine we have two buyers:

The first one has a huge amount of information about the product, and  the company .The other buyer has weak information about the product itself and the company.

If the knowledgeable buyer approaches a  sophisticated salesman ; the latter wouldn't be able to fool him/her  and the deal will be closed with both parties satisfied. If the weak  customer had approached the same salesman, the deal will be closed with only one party satisfied which is the salesman; just because the customer isn't really aware of his/her needs and how would the purchased product will satisfy that need.

If you provide with great product and it is differentiate from other products, educated consumer can tell the difference, for example to purchase laptop with specs, now most people are not educated to know what's the difference between this laptop or that laptop, they view the specs like in numbers, wouldn't understand the difference, while on other hand a well educated buy will know the difference, and know what to choose, so establishing way to educate customers will help improve purchasing service or product of your company, is what the statement trying to say.

An educated Buyer knows what his /her explicit need is. He is educated to understand the following steps and implicate accordingly.

Problem recognition - The first step is problem recognition. During this step, the buyer realizes that she has an unfulfilled need or want. What is her implied or explicit need. Buyer knows what he wants and what he needs.

Information search - The next step is to gather information relevant to what you need to solve the problem and here education works more. The buyer may engage in research on the Internet to determine the types of vehicles available and their respective features.

Evaluation - After information is gathered, it is evaluated against a consumer's needs, wants, preferences, and financial resources available for purchase. In our example, our consumer has decided to narrow her choices down to three cars based upon price, comfort, and fuel efficiency.

Purchase - At this stage, the consumer will make a purchasing decision. The ultimate decision may be based on factors such as price or availability. For example, our consumer has decided to purchase a particular model of car because its price was the best she could negotiate and the car was available immediately.

Post-purchase evaluation - At this stage, the consumer will decide whether the purchase actually satisfies her needs and wants. Is our car purchaser happy with her purchase? If she is not satisfied, why isn't she?
