Technical Support and Product Support are the same or different?

Both are different sides of the same coin.

A Product is finished good or task. Product Support is related to anything and everything of that one particular product. A product support specialist may not be technically knowledgeable. He is the front end. He knows how to use the product, when to use, where to use etc. He knows input and output of the complete product life cycle. But it is not him who uses the input to build the output.

It is the technical people who gets the requirement input and delivers to finished output. Technical Support deals with single / multiple products with indepth knowledge technically (software / Hardware / middleware). He is the backend.

It will be a rare combination of people with both product and technical skills.

Product SupportThis involves all levels of support. One can have more than one clients. It is provided to those clients who have warranty or have support contracts.

 

Technical SupportAgain this involves all levels of support. Unlike Product Support, Technical Support could involve many products, software, operating systems. It is necessary to have the knowledge of the domain in which one is working.

If the support relates to networking then one is expected to know al about networking and the operation of individual networking device.

technical and product support participants in included all level of support,product support can have more than one clients,its provide support to the clients who have warranty or contract ,knowledge of the product (software,operating system,..etc) is essential.

technical support could know many products,softwares,operating system,networks related to the  which field he/she is working .

A significant difference in terms of products will be developed to support the treatment of its own technical problems by giving new properties help to distinguish it within the market either technical support for each technical services that come after the sale to customers of applying the product and explain its properties with solving technical problems for customers
