10. Be willing to admit and learn from failures and weaknesses.
11. Continue to educate and improve yourself.
Hi Dina,
Thank you for the invitation.
There are many leaders who feel that being assertive will make them seem too aggressive or pushy. This is not true. What can you do to be assertive without becoming obnoxious?
1. 1. Connect and communicate with everyone. The most successful assertive leaders, however, take care to connect with people at all levels of the organization. They make themselves accessible to everyone. They also spend the time to communicate clearly and personally about changes. This is the #1 priority to be successful in leadership.
2. 2. Give honest feedback in a helpful way
3. 3. Use good judgment to make decisions. Assertive leaders who are perceived as having good judgment have a high probability of being successful, but what can a leader do to improve their judgment? Gathering all the facts, careful analysis, and examination of the trends will help this process but one of the best practices is involving others in the decision making process. Inevitably, if others are involved and feel encouraged to comment, disagree, or challenge assumptions, better decisions emerge.
4. 4. Walk your talk. Sometimes assertive leaders see the need for other people to change their behavior, but they themselves are immune from the change.
5. 5. Maintain excellent relationships. Strong relationships can help to cover any gaps.
6. 6. Look for opportunities to collaborate.
Good Luck,
1. Taking cycle leadership skills
2. The application of the principle of specialization and division of labor for employees
3. communicate with seasoned managers and took the experience of them (in the use of a friend)
4. captain must be a director and a friend to all the staff at the same time
Thanks I amagree with my colleague’s answers Khalid he give us good answer
Agree with Mr. Khalid Ghaffar's elaborated answer and learned from the same as well. Thanks.
If you are assertive then you will find it difficult to manage generation Z - the latest breed of employees. These days humility is the number 1 quality in a leader and that is not assertiveness or leading form the front. It is Level 5 leadership which is needed to lead in an environment where knowledge workers and specialists work around you. Instead of being assertive, what works today is influencing your colleagues and subordinates with a mix of logic and emotion in a subtle manner. Just google to find a lot of material on Level 5 leadership.
Generally, when one knows it all, COURAGE is the missing link.
Firstly one can't have courage without knowledge. Build up your knowledge to the limit that it is acknowledged by people. Then one has to face up all the issues at the right time. It seems very difficult at first; but then once one knows it helps, it doesn't really remain that difficult. All the steps have been very well defined by Mr Khalid Ghaffar. Just have to be applied by built in courage.
