While PMP and CAPM are the two main go-tos for certification, Coursera and ALISON offer alternatives. Coursera, a MOOC platform, offers a specialization in project management. Students can  pick-and-choose individual project management courses (like Budgeting and Scheduling Projects and Managing Project Risks and Changes

PMP and Prince 2 are probably the most widely accepted Project Management certifications globally. I can highly recommend both frameworks as Project planning and implementation references.

If you have no previous experience in project management I may recommend you "Project Management Fundamentals" that is available in LinkedIn: (Le lien a été supprimé pour non-respect des conditions d'utilisation. Veuillez contacter l’équipe d'assistance pour plus d'informations.)

You may also find other interesting Fundamental trainings in Internet:

https://www.tutorialspoint.com/pmp-exams/project_management_fundamentals.htm

PMI organization has in place also a training about the PM fundamentals: http://learning.pmi.org/course-detail.php?courseID=791. It costs 350 USD if your not a PMI member (300 USD if you are) and it could be a good option if you are really looking forward to get the PMP certification, as after this training you will get the PMP wording (though PM fundamentals are the same some concepts may be called in a different way depending of which company you are working with).

My suggestion is then to try to plan a project making use of the course content. There is no need to choose a company project, but you may start to plan any activity in your daily life. For example, plan your next vacations in detail. Consider the hotel / flight companies as vendors who you may contact to get a quotation in order to create your budget, the timings including all kids of transportation, your team (people coming with you to the trip or people that you need to leverage on - i.e., do you need a person to look after your kids while you are traveling?). Analyze the risks and their implications in terms of time/costs/quality and at the end in money, and how to mitigate them. Draw your time plan. Show your budget in an Excel doc. Raise your risk analysis. Do not forget about your changes management plan. How will you measure the quality in your project? Document all the plan.

Definitely if you have not previous experience to apply in a simple case the topics are are learning it is the best way to better get the knowledge.

If you are somehow experience and you have already been managing some little projects, try to go further and approach some other more complex. Then I would recommend you to go through the PMI book and try to get the PMP certification. Going to PMP without previous hands on training/real experience it will be very hard and you may feel demotivated. So, it is better to go one step after another one :)

In any case, if you need urgent support from a PM Specialist to get a quick induction or review your ongoing in practice PM skills, I am available to support.

Go for the online courses from PMI and get PMP certification if you dont have

I assume that you want to get PMP certification from PMI (Project Management Institute). This is actually the only organization that certifies PMPs, so you need to go the the PMI website. They have a form that lets you search for what they call "registered education providers" and you can narrow your search to just web-based instruction
