This is very interesting question. The following guidelines are recommended:

CV for Engineers:

1.   Readability: Please take care that non engineers are able read freely and understand quickly. Avoid engineering acronym. If necessary, provide full abbreviation.

2.   Output oriented: Mention output not the detail engineering process. Mention usefulness of the design not the design details.

3.   Core Competencies: A clear role showing drive for result, communication and working with people in different position held.

CV for Managers:

1.   Output Oriented: Do not mention activities, mention output and much of the integrating role as a decision maker.

2.   Career Progression: A clear career progression from executive to Manager as a reward for hard work

3.   Core Competencies: A clear role showing drive for result, communication and working with people in the positions held

Male sure to highlight your recent experience, education, and how it is beneficial for the new job to have you as part of the team.

The first part of your CV (personal statement or Career objective) should be written based on each job you apply for, you need to make a connection between your skills and the requirements for the new job.

Also, it is important to delete the things that are not related to the new job from any point.

Short CVs are the new trend, high management and executives don't have time to read two pages of accomplishment or certifications.

Use bold or italic to highlight the points you feel important.

Good luck

Just imagine, the receiver of your CV will give 1 minute to review your CV.

So, it has to be simple, into the point, skillful, and contain as much of your experiences.

One more thing, dates series should be taken into consideration. Meaning no overlapping or gaps.
