First there is no best method; all the methods are there to pick what suit your organisational context and objectives. The strategy exist in order to achieve organisational objectives. So you need to check what it is first then examin the existing context according to which you can start designing a strategy that will best suit it. You should also know that this strategy might not be ideal one yet in this context will be the best solution.
I agree with Samar, There is no book that can tell you what is the best strategy. The strategy has to be sought out through proper study of organizational context i.e. organizational culture, Organizational objectives, organizational resources, Organization's geographic settings, environment and surroundings etc.
YOu can mix and match several methods to suit you and you can develope on the way till you get what suits your organization best.
