Being in HR, the biggest challenge so far i observed is (a) Change of Mindset (b) realizing the importance of interventions/recommendation we propose to our internal customers. Hr could not survive and flourish until back by top management. So if they have the support they will take business supportive initiatives which have positive impact at organizational level.
When I was in customer support engineer that time I faced one problem. That time I went to one customer's home he used pc in home only so i went his home he put un necessary things in program files, that time he did his engineering graduate. So I asked him what are the softwares are using current time you can install it now why you un necessary3rd year and4 th year using software now you told your not using now this then you can remove it. He accepted and uninstall and clean everything then system is fine i returned back to office. Evening time that same customer's father called and complained my superior who came to my home that engineer cheated me and my son. we didnt know what he told then again went to his home myself and my superior then explain himself he didnt accept he noted all in one diary then again format it again did the job and finished it what he noted in the diary. Again he called me my system is very slow, so come and do again that problem i faced.
