Warehouse Management System is mainly a software used to manage warehousing activities i.e. movement of inventories such as picked, packed and shipped. System assist in stock movement by suggesting storage/pick up of SKUs as per bin location. System provides real time stock visibility.

ERP software automates activities all the departments in an organisation. Inventory management is a part their off.

For e-commerce business it is suggested to go for ERP software because most of the inventories moves thru 3rd party logistics.

ERP software can facilitate the flow of information across all functional areas. As WMS software is limited to tracking the course of inventory/assets, a function that is normally contained within the ERP system, then it would make great business sense to select the ERP software over WMS.

When speaking with businesses seeking inventory management software, the terms Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is often used interchangeably. Although ERP software has warehouse management capabilities, they are not the same, and there are areas that set them a part. It's important to understand the definition and difference between these terms when talking to software providers.

Both WMS and ERP software systems are the backbone to any distribution and wholesale business - without them, the business wouldn't be able to function. This blog post aims to educate you on the similarities and differences between warehouse anagement and ERP software.

A Warehouse Management System (WMS) is mainly used to manage the movement and storage of inventory. It tracks the movement of each inventory item such as the item being picked, packed, shipped and received. The key differentiator between ERP and WMS is that WMS systems provide intelligence on optimizing inventory based on real-time information. Reports can be generated to indicate the optimal location for each item to be placed based on historical data and trends. In addition, WMS are often standalone systems, requiring other modules like accounting and customer relationship management.

On the other hand, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software automates business processes across all departments of a business including accounting, inventory management, and customer relationship management. The main purpose of ERP software is to facilitate the flow of information between all functional areas. ERP software has many of the same capabilities as WMS software such as tracking the process of inventory items - picked, packed, and shipped. It's important to know that ERP software is an integrated all-in-one solution - it's not necessary or recommended to have other systems working in conjunction with ERP software. Often times, it becomes counter-productive to have multiple software applications managing your operations. Having multiple applications will decrease productivity and efficiency through duplicate entries - and don't forget rekeying errors.

Both these systems are a part of supply chain management and aimed to help businesses manage their resources in the most economical way possible. They report information based on real-time data in a variety of ways and can be stored on a server and on the cloud. Each system and module comes with its own price tag - starting from a few thousand, to upwards of hundreds of thousands. Not every warehouse needs a WMS - they're complex and the initial and on-going costs are expensive. Many ERP systems have the main functionality of WMS systems at a lower price-point. There are different levels of inventory management software and it's best to understand business needs when searching for systems.

The maximum value addition for a product or service from a cost perspective is possible at the beginning of the purchase cycle or at the supplier’s side. Reducing cost directly improves the profits by almost an equivalent percentage. Another way of improving the bottom line is by increasing sales. But increasing sales does not proportionately increase profits. The maximum opportunity to improve profits is available at the material purchase point. Ariba has a solution for buyers which improve the bottom line by reducing costs.

Ariba does not provide a cheap products market but a solution for buying products in a cost effective way. Ariba helps reduce the cost of transaction. The buying process is automated, tested and transparent.

Ariba enables companies to know their spending habits and facilitates using that knowledge to be a stronger negotiator.  It enables a company to save money by understanding its spending habits. Data like how much it is spending in buying a particular product category or buying from a particular seller category, how much is competition spending on similar categories help a company understand its spending habit. . The best available price for the product in a specified time frame is available for companies to see and compare. Also since Ariba is completely automated there is no need to enter data separately The BI that is builtt into Ariba makes data available real time as companies transact. Negotiation does not take up a large part of the buying process because all details of prices and terms that the seller has entered into with other buyers are readily available.

The Ariba network has developed over the past 10 – 15 years approximately. Today Ariba connects companies to a large and diverse network of high-quality suppliers, so they can quickly discover collaborative partners who can lower their costs for goods and services while minimizing risks.

Ariba enables contracting and procuring in ways that ensure compliance. Compliance part of any deal between a buyer and seller is completely automated and transparent in Ariba. The contract term that the seller has accepted with different buyers is available to both parties. For E-Comerce ,the best tool would be ERP Systems like BAAN,SAP,Insight where we can make a chain connection among Supplier-SCM - Production -Inventory-Sale-Customer. WHS would be helpful for data analysis and material flow especially inside our own organization

Take care of the computer in introducing the necessary data and information necessary to bring when needed

And professionalism in Althuzein useful and get rid of the appendages of both, depending on size and the amount of value

WMS system is only for warehouse management. While ERP is for all function of organization. So ERP is required for E-commerce business.
