Is it efficient to use mobile app for barcode scanning for warehouse management system or it is better to the use dedicated barcode handheld Devices?

The new technic units in the market  both seems  semilar functions of the components of each devise and then select the better one as per your warehouse material based on the product you have at your system.

Working on developing a mobile app and considering integrating barcode scanning capability. My experience as a user with barcode scanning in mobile apps has been hit or miss. A lot depends on the available connection, the product I'm scanning, and the environment in the store. Has anyone studied this behavior or looked at their scanning metrics?
