Why do we need Software configuration management?

SCM is used for Figuring out what you have and recording it somewhere,Controlling who can make changes and Keeping a record of the changes you’ve made.in softwre industries this is very important.so we need software configuration management.

Any system which is changing it is shape on a frequecy requires configuration Management. In case of software we make the change and like to track the changes. Software configuration Management give us ability to comeback on version without distorying the santatiy of software. 

Change always brings lots of bads along with Goods. In case of software changes also creates the defect injection, function leaks etc. Thefore we required a set of process, people and tool to manager those changes effectively and prevent defect injection & function leaks etc in more effective manner.  It is back bone of Continueous Integration.
