I often go for campus recruitments.
1)As per me, candidates should expect over 80% questions coming from/around their resume
2)So to be successful, first step is to create a very presentable, truthful and interesting resume which captures and displays skills, qualifications, hobbies etc
3) Read and understand(and not only cram) your resume properly.
4)I give more weightage to the attitude of the candidate over grades. Grades have to be over threshold limit but positivity in attitude is "more the merrier".
5) A student engineer must work hard to improve his theoretical knowledge and a trainee engineer must know how to apply that knowldge. Application of knowledge is the key. Hence, undertand the objective and process of internship and projects undertaken in college days. This gives very good insight to the interviewer about the candidate's potential
6) Be very honest in the interview. Don't bluff or fake. There is absolutely no harm in accepting in interview that "I am not sure about this". For a trainee engineer, interviewer tries to ask questions from his course only
7)Rehearse for the interview at home beforehand. Try to know your strengths and weaknesses, honestly.
8) Be very calm and relaxed in the interview
8)Last but not the least, try to know the dress code for the interview. Most of the times, interviewer expects "absolutely formal dress code" . Try to avoid casuals in the interview. 9 out of 10 times, casuals are big NO NO
